AnimalHelp of Central Washington has developed a low-cost spay/neuter program for those who have financial need. If you'd like to get your pet spayed or neutered but cannot afford to do so, you may be eligible for financial assistance from our group. Just call (509) 662-9888 to obtain an application or write us at P.O. Box 4381, Wenatchee, WA 98807 Posters for Homeless Pets: AnimalHelp of Central Washington is currently creating posters for homeless animals in the community and distributing the posters to bulletin boards. As part of this program, we are regularly featuring homeless animals at the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. We also plan to create and distribute posters for people in the community who need assistance in placing a pet that they cannot keep. Please stay tuned for details. Click here to see the current poster. Foster/Transport Network: The difference between life and death for many animals can depend on something as simple as having a place to stay for a night or two while waiting to go to a new home or finding a ride to a new home. If you are interested in fostering an animal or transporting an animal to a new home please click here to fill out the questionnaire. AHCW also has an online foster/transport network within our e-group. If you'd like to join our e-group or learn more about it, please click here. If you have any other questions about our foster/transport program, please send an e-mail to info@animalhelpcw.org. Educational Outreach: AHCW is working on developing a humane education program in this area. We are currently distributing informational posters, brochures and other educational material throughout the community. We also plan to start a humane education program in our local schools and are currently gathering educational materials that will be appropriate for children of all ages. Trap/Neuter/Return: There are over 60 million feral cats living in the United States at this time. AHCW plans to develop programs that will advocate the non-lethal and most effective method of managing feral cat populations called Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR). TNR has been used
successfully for decades in Engand, Denmark and other countries around the
world but has just recently been
introduced in the United States. For more information about TNR, please visit Alley Cat
Allies website at www.alleycat.org. Alley Cat Allies has a wonderful video called "The Humane
Solution" that does an excellent job of explaining the benefits of TNR. The video may be
ordered through their website and also can be checked out at the Wenatchee Public Library.
